Sarabande
The sarabande from Partita BWV 997 is in binary form (A-B). Section A (16 measures) ends in E-flat major. Section B (also 16 measures long) begins in E-flat major and modulates to B-flat major, G minor, and F minor before returning to C minor via E-flat major.

Measure 9 motive (second phrase of Part A):
- Measure 16 (last measure of Part A): transformed by augmentation and inversion.
- Measure 25 (second phrase of Part B): transformed by inversion.
- Measure 32 (last measure of Part B): Measure 16 transformed by retrograde motion and inversion.
Measure 10 motive (second phrase of Part A):
- Measure 26 (second phrase of Part B): transformed by inversion.
