Prelude No. 24 is in D minor. Section A consists of two phrases and is followed by Section B, which develops the thematic material presented in Section A. The prelude concludes with a coda.

	Measures 1 to 2.	Introduction.
	Measures 3 to 20.	D minor, F major and A minor keys.
	Measures 21 to 38.	The previous phrase is repeated, transposed a descending fourth. It is in the keys of A minor, C major, and E minor.
	Measures 39 to 65.	Development of the thematic material in section A. In the keys of C minor, D-flat major, and D minor.
	Measures 66 to 77.	D minor key.
