A Baroque Suite is a collection of baroque dances often preceded by a prelude. All pieces share the same key and are organized with contrasting tempo and time signatures. Other names for the suite are partita and sonata.

We will analyze the French Suite number 2 by J. S. Bach (BWV 813). Bach wrote 6 French Suites between 1722 and 1725.

This suite has the following dances all in binary form:

1. Allemande 2. Courante 3. Sarabande 4. Air 5. Menuet 6. Gigue
