Coda

These two works may suggest that both composers envisioned the possibility of parallel chord movement. The use of parallel chords gets us one step closer to the use of chords devoid of its harmonic and tonal function. This resource will be exploited by Debussy and other composers. Did Chopin considered this possibility?

On the other hand the use by Bach of the twelve tonal centers in a few measures is an early example of the tonal weakness created by chromaticism that would lead Schoenberg in the early XX century to develop the Twelve-tone technique.

In conclusion, we believe that these are innovative works that anticipate many of the harmonic resources crucial the development of our musical language.
